Different Rhinoplasty Procedures

Rhinoplasty is plastic surgery to change the size or shape of the nose or restore the normal function of the nasal cavity structure. When many people are dissatisfied with the appearance of the nose and want a more beautiful appearance, they turn to rhinoplasty.

If you are considering a rhinoplasty, it may be comforting to know that you are not alone. More than 220,000 people underwent surgical rhinoplasty.

The most common rhinoplasty is called open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. It may also require a plastic surgeon to perform a revision rhinoplasty, also called a second rhinoplasty. For minor changes in the nose, there is also a non-surgical operation called rhinoplasty.

The following are the four basic steps of plastic surgery and medical nose:

Open nose surgery

Open rhinoplasty surgery is used for major nose shaping. During this operation, the doctor will make an incision in the strip of skin that separates the nostril. With the peeling of the skin and soft tissues, the surgeon can see and manipulate the underlying nasal anatomy.

The advantage of open rhinoplasty is that the surgeon can directly see cartilage and other nasal anatomical structures, and can manipulate the shape of the nose with higher control and precision.

Closed rhinoplasty

Using a closed rhinoplasty, the incision is in the nose. Then, as in an open rhinoplasty, the skin is separated from the bone and cartilage, allowing the surgeon to access the underlying structure. The bone and cartilage can then be reshaped, removed or enhanced to achieve the desired shape or structural correction.

In addition to the location of the incision, a smaller closed scar rhinoplasty has the advantages of reducing operation time, reducing swelling and reducing postoperative healing time.

Revised rhinoplasty

The revised rhinoplasty is also called a second rhinoplasty because it is the second operation to correct the problems that have occurred and persisted after previous surgical operations on the nose.

The problem may be one of appearance. Maybe the patient does not like the results of the first operation. Or because of some structural difficulties or trauma caused by an accident after a person has undergone a nose surgery, revision rhinoplasty may be necessary.

Sometimes this is a small problem that can be easily resolved during a visit. At other times, the problem may be complex, making corrections more difficult than the initial surgery. The second rhinoplasty can be performed through open or closed surgery.

Rhinoplasty

In rhinoplasty surgery, your doctor will use injectable fillers to change the shape of the nose. Through this non-surgical method, doctors can eliminate sharp angles and bumps, change the shape of the nose tip, and restore a certain degree of symmetry. Since rhinoplasty is an augmentation surgery, that is, materials are being added, it cannot reduce the size of someone's nose.

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that does not correct medical problems such as diaphragm deflection.

Injectable fillers are very effective, but they will not provide the permanent results you get during rhinoplasty.
